Flowers
Part of
the catholic tradition is to use all of the senses in worship.
Stained glass, candles, colours and vestments are things we can see.
Music,
singing and bells are part of our auditory experience.
Incense appeals
to our sense of smell.
The bread and wine of Communion are tasted.
The water in Baptism, the laying on of hands and shaking hands
during the "Peace" are examples of the use of touch.
Flowers, on the other hand, have an appeal
across several senses.
After the period of Lent, when there are no flowers in Church, on
Easter Day the building is beautifully decorated with arrangements
which
point so poignantly to the wonder of the Resurrection.
This
page is dedicated to our team of flower arrangers who
work so hard to help make our Church a place of beauty.

August 15th - 19th, 2007

The
theme for our display was 'How great thou art!'
The arrangers interpreted verses from the hymn and
worked incredibly hard to create a superb display.
The festival itself was a feast of scent, colour and
creativity to proclaim the mighty works of God.
